Game time

Jaran and I got lucky this weekend... we were invited to the Utes game Halloween night with our friends Brock and McCall. Sadly we've never been to a game and Jaran's been going to the U for a year now so we definitely took them up on their offer! It was a lot of fun because it was BLACK OUT, and almost everyone dressed in black. They beat Wyoming 22-10!

The fans all in black!

Monday night we got lucky again! Jaran's other friend Bryan and his wife Heidi invited us to go to the Jazz game with them.. and neither of us have been to one in years! They had awesome seats too- we were kiddy-corner from where the players sit. I'm a huge Jazz fan, too bad they're not off to a great start :(

LOVE Derron Williams

The starters coming off towards the end when Houston had the win in the bag. We still had fun though even though they lost!

pumpkin carvin, apple dippin, chili eatin kinda week

Last Monday and Wednesday mine and Jaran's family both got together to carve pumpkins and make caramel apples for Halloween. Every year Jaran comes up with a crazy idea for his pumpkin carving.. and he didn't disappoint this year! He cut open the bottom instead of the top, scooped out the insides and then put them on top of the pumpkin to make it looked like an exposed brain.. how creative :)

Friday night we had a ward Halloween party and Jaran and I signed up to bring chili for a chili cook off. Jaran has been on this kick lately where he is loving buying the hottest hot sauce that he can find.. even if it means buying it online. Yes, he bought 3 of the world's hottest sauces made with the ghost pepper and it's pure extract. He's crazy, but loves it and can stand eating it which is even more crazy. Needless to say.. he won the hottest/spiciest chili at the party.

Every Halloween Jaran sews his own costume and this year he seriously did it in like 2 hours. I was impressed.. he wanted to be "Green Man".. and green he was. A full body suit. He loved it. We went to the Utes game that night (post to come) and then went to our friend Brock and Betsy's house for a party with some of our friends and made a bonfire. What an eventful Halloween week we had!

Yellowstone

October 13-15 was the week of Jaran's spring break at the U, so our friends Brock and Betsy Loomis invited us to go to Yellowstone with them. Their family has a time share in West Yellowstone where we stayed which was way nice. The first night we got there we walked around town and went to a bunch of stores and gift shops, then ate dinner at the Bear Tooth Barbeque, so good! When we got back to our condo we went swimming, played Yahtzee, then went to bed so we could get up early and go into the park.

So excited to be in Montana!

In front the World Mark Lodge where we stayed

The weather all day was cold! It rained off and on, and as we got higher up there was lots of snow already. There wasn't a lot of people there so we didn't have to deal with crowds which was nice, and because it was so cold it made the steam from all the hot pots look so much cooler!

We were lucky enough to see Old Faithful when it wasn't raining. It cleared up for a bit and we only waited for about 30 minutes for it to go off!

Brock eating his lunch in the car with us... this crow on top of the hood decided to join us too!

We saw quite a few animals- mostly just deer, antelope, and buffalo though. No bears unfortunately which is what we hoped for.

This picture is hard to see but I thought it was cool because all you can tell how foggy it was around us by some of the hot pots

After we left the park we went out for Pizza that night and went swimming again, then packed up and headed home the next day. We had a great time getting away for a few days and loved Yellowstone!

Graduation

I've officially completed nursing school! I finished this August from Weber State's accelerated RN program. It feels so nice to have it done, it was definitely a challenging and busy year but I'm so glad that I did it that way! Because my last semester was in the summer, commencement ceremonies weren't held for us graduates, so we're allowed to "walk" at the end of this fall semester if we want to for graduation. In fact, there wasn't really any type of celebration held for us 29 students so we decided to have our own party after we all finished finals! It was a lot of fun, us students and our spouses/families met out at Barnes Park in Kaysville and had a big barbeque and played volleyball. It was sad to think that it was the last time that I'll see a lot of my classmates, we all became so close after being together almost five days a week for an entire year. I made some really good friends that I'll definitely never forget!

I had to put this picture in below as well- we went to Evanston this summer for our 2 day psych rotations in the Wyoming State Hospital. These we are the girls I was closest with, we were all so crazy around each other it was a blast

Since we didn't have commencement ceremonies with the school, my cute mom and family put together for me my very own graduation. It was a complete surprise- they had me wear this cap and gown that my sister-in-law kept after she graduated, and they had me walk into our family room to the traditional graduation music and all. My mom even prepared a speech for me and my sister Kariann who is a nurse gave me some good advice about things she's learned over the years. It was so nice of them to do this, and I really appreciate all the support they've given me. Thanks guys I love you!

My mom was really into it, she did great!

This gift was kind of a joke, but the sign is taped to a block of boards that was "passed" to me. My mom has quite the sense of humor :)

Last Summer Vacation- Ferron Resivoir

This is the last post that I've wanted to do of our summer trips. I realize this is old but I still wanted to put up pictures of the fun time we had! The last weekend in July we always go camping with my mom's side of the family in the Manti National Forest. However we haven't been the past few years, so this was Jaran's first time there, and he had a lot of fun! I have so many memories there with my family and cousins... we always go four-wheeling, fishing and canoeing in the reservoir, play games, eat tons of great food, listen to stories around campfires, and of course stop in Manti and drive by my favorite temple before we go home.

Overlooking Ferron Reservoir

We love four-wheeling.. Jaran's taught me how to drive clutch too which I'm pretty good at now!

We all took a ride to the top where the road starts to come down into Ferron- Katie and Ryan, Kariann and Brady, me and Jaran

Ashton and Abby loved playing in the dirt with their buckets... and so did Jaran :)

Abby "driving" Ashton on the four-wheeler. I have the cutest niece and nephew!

Brady shooting targets just before this happened...

On one of Brady's shots his hand was up too high after he pulled the trigger and it came back and sliced his thumb open! It was so deep you could see the tendon moving. He had to have stitches and luckily one of my second cousins is in his residency of med-school and had a suture kit to sew him back up.

Brady's a trooper, he sat through 6 stitches without any anesthetics and didn't flinch once!
